Frankfort travelled to Memphis Tennessee this weekend to take on the Memphis Blast in a pre-season exhibition game. The Falcons took 35 players on the 6 hour trip, and Coach Washington got to see some things he needed to see. “We wanted to take a look a few guys in different formations, and get a better idea of what rotation we will be using on June 6th”. Coach Abbott speaking of the defense said “Our mindset was that of a pre-season game, try things we may not try in the season, try guys out of position to see if we can develope depth in other areas, our guys were a little groggy from the 6 hour drive, and didnt really get going until halftime. I thought we played very well in the second half”

Next up for frankfort is the season opener on June 6th in Louisville, KY against the Derby City Thunder. Check back later this week for kickoff time.

Falcons Football & Cheer Camp a Success

May 15, 2009

The Frankfort Falcons Football organization held it’s first annual football & cheer camp recently at Kentucky State University. Over 40 campers enjoyed instruction from Falcon football players, coaches, as well as help from the Frankfort Youth Football League coaches. Camp included instruction on both offensive & defensive technique, skills, formations on the individual and team level.
The cheer camp was ran by FYFL coaches as well as Falcon personnel and included cheer, stunt, and dance instruction. On the final day of camp, Coach Abbott’s “Blue” squad narrowly defeated Coach Jackson’s “Black” squad in the inter-camp scrimmage, 21-14 in a tightly contested battle. The game MVP was John Michael of the ‘Blue’ squad who not only scored a touchdown, but had three huge interceptions to lead his team to victory.
The Falcons organization would like to thank all the parents, campers, coaches, and Falcon players for making this years camp a success. We hope to do it even bigger and better next time.
The Falcons are currently looking into the possibility of having a pre-fall camp, due to overwhelming interest from the community. Stay Tuned !

TRYOUT A SUCCESS FOR THE FALCONS

April 8, 2009

The Falcons held their second round of tryouts at Franklin County High School. There was a great turnout, as some familiar faces as well as some new faces arrived to try to make the squad for Frankfort. Entering their second year in the AFL, the Falcons look to bolster their roster from a last year.

“We wanted to add many more players from this tryout, we have a lot of talent returning from last years team, but we want to add guys who want to work hard, and who are commited to being part of a team” said Head Coach Willie Washington.

“We will have a solid defense this year, there are some big guys who can really move, we have a lot of speed in the secondary, and our linebackers can really fly, this should be a fun group to watch this season.” said Defensive Coordinator Dusty Abbott . Coach Washington says the Falcons have notified 41 players that they have made the team, and could add even more players soon. For more information on how to join contact:
